Types of Noises Successfully Removed or Diminished

We try to restore the sound to match the original sound of the master tapes, at the time when the recording was made. We perform Restorations and Transfers to CD starting from almost any format. Read the complete list of Formats Accepted.

Here are the most common types of noises we remove or diminish from old recordings:

	Scratches
	Crackles
	Pops
	Vinyl hiss
	Cylinder noise
	Tape hiss
	Static noise
	Hum
	Buzzes
	Motor or A/C noise
	Constant pitched noises
	Clicks or ticks

These corrections can be applied at additional cost:

	Correct the pitch or the speed of a recording
	Remove excessive low or high frequencies
	Remove the RIAA phono curve and/or use alternative curves
	Create high frequencies using the mid-range frequencies with the use of an "Exciter"
	Give recordings a sweeter, tube-amplifier sound
	Give recordings a harsher, digital sound

Using our sound restoration techniques in most cases we improve the quality grade of records by a couple of grades.

	There are some types defects and distortions that are very hard or impossible to restore. We want our customers to be informed. Please read about Limitations in Sound Restoration on the Questions and Answers page.
	*We will apply our Noise Reduction Philosophy* for all recordings we receive for Restoration and Transfer to CD, unless you instruct us otherwise.**
	We accept requests for "more" or "less" noise reduction. Use the "Special Instructions" space on the order form to request "more" or "less" noise reduction.
