You may order up to 3 (three) Restoration Versions of a
recording.
NOTE: Restoration Versions may be ordered at the time when
the original recording is submitted or, for an order we have already
processed, up to 60 days from the date when
your original order was shipped back to you (as documented on the Order
Tracking System).
If the Restoration Version is ordered after you have received your
original back, it is NOT necessary to ship back to us the original
recording (Restoration Version will be returned to you with free
shipping). We keep the computer project files for 60 days. That's
why it is important that Restoration Versions are ordered within 60
days. On the 61st day after shipping date the files are deleted.
After that time, the original recording must be resubmitted as a new
Transfer with Sound Restoration order.
Why would anyone want to order additional Restoration Versions of
the same recording?
You have received our CD. Your order was for "Transfer Only"
but the original recording is noisy and now you are sorry you did not order
"Transfer with Sound Restoration". Order a Restoration
Version. It will cost less than resubmitting the original recording
as a new Transfer with Sound Restoration order (you will not have to reship
the original recording to us and the return shipping on your Restoration
Version is free).
You have received our CD. The restoration was consistent with our Noise
Reduction Philosophy (or with your
instructions) but you would have liked more noise reduction applied (or less
noise reduction, or a different approach). No problem, you don't have to live with a version you
don't care for. Order a Restoration Version. Indicate in
the "Special Instructions" box of the Order Form what you would like
done differently in this version.
You are a very demanding listener. You would like to have two
restoration versions of your recording: our normal restoration (in accordance
with our Noise
Reduction Philosophy) and another
version ("Maximum Noise Reduction", or "Light Noise
Reduction"). In fact, you may have up to three versions: our
"default" restoration plus a "Maximum Noise Reduction"
version and a "Light Noise Reduction" version. At the time
when you place the original version, add one (or up to two) additional
Restoration Version(s) to your order. Document your preferences in
the "Special Instructions" box.
You have received our CD and detected a skip (or a repeat) somewhere on the
recording. We never guarantee that there will be no skips (or repeats)
in a recording (this is abundantly described on our web site). Using the
"skippy" recording we have on file, you would like us to try to
improve the skip (or repeat), somehow mask it (or make it less obvious).
Order a Restoration Version. Indicate in the "Special
Instructions" box of the Order Form where the skip/jump is (track +
minute:second). We'll do our best. However, we do not guarantee
that the result will be perfect. We are offering this option as an
accommodation, not as a source of arguments, disputes and requests for free
rework. The Restoration Version produced is final.
What can you expect in a Restoration Version?
A different restoration approach. There are very many parameters
to restore and different restoration approaches. The Version will
aim to use a different approach and parameter settings, in accordance with
your instructions. In the case of a skip (or repeat), the new version
will attempt to improve (or mask) the skip/repeat.
What you should NOT expect in a Restoration Version?
Although it will be a different Restoration Version, it will not
necessarily be a better version. By default (in accordance with
our Noise
Reduction Philosophy) we apply just
enough noise reduction to make a difference, but not as much as to modify the
original sound or introduce artifacts. It is possible that by executing
your order for "more noise reduction" the original sound may be
modified or artifacts may be introduced. We are offering this option as
an accommodation, not as a source of arguments, disputes and requests for free
rework. The Restoration Versions produced are final.
It is also possible that the difference between versions may subtle.
People who are not audio professionals (or who do not have sensitive ears or
sensitive playback equipment) may not hear much of a change (although the
change is there, is evident for trained ears and is effective). We are
offering this option as an accommodation, not as a source of arguments,
disputes and requests for free rework. The Restoration Versions
produced are final.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
A maximum of 3 (three) Restoration Versions may be ordered for any one
recording (including the original Sound Restoration).
Restoration Versions are ordered subject to our approval. If we feel
that another version can not be produced in accordance with your
instructions (example: you are ordering "more noise reduction", and
we know that we have already applied the maximum amount of noise reduction
that will not create distortions), after we analyze the recording, we will
email and tell you that we will not be able to produce another Restoration
Version (and we will explain why).
The Restoration Versions may be ordered at the time when the original
recording is submitted or up to 60 days from the date when the original
order was shipped back (as documented on the Order
Tracking System).
If the Restoration Version is ordered after receipt of the
original recording back (within the 60-day period), it is NOT necessary
to ship back to us the original recording. The Restoration Version
will be returned to you with free shipping.
Restoration Versions are available for restorations from the following
formats: LP, Cassette, Micro Cassette, DAT Tape, MiniDisc, 8-track tapes and Reel-to-reel
tape.
Of course, the real format of the original recording is what counts (for
example, "Home Made Records" submitted on a cassette tape counts as
a "Home Made Records" restoration and not as a cassette
restoration, therefore is not available for Restoration Versions).
Restoration Versions are NOT available for restorations from the
following formats: 45 rpm, 78 rpm Commercial Releases, Home Made Records, 16 inch Transcriptions, Edisons and Acoustic discs, Wire Recordings.
Restoration Versions are offered on an AS IS basis. We do not
make any guarantee that an ordered Restoration Version will be better
than the first restoration (or that it will be perfect). We
will make every effort to produce a different version, as close as we
can to your direction without producing distortions, but we make no guarantees
of any kind. This option is offered as an accommodation, not as a source
of arguments, disputes and requests for free rework. The Restoration
Versions produced are final, and not subject to disputes, arguments and
requests for free rework. If this is not acceptable, please do not
order Restoration Versions. Ordering Restoration Versions
assumes full
understanding of, acceptance and compliance with our terms and conditions.
