- A "Tape Pancake" is a tape on a hub (core) only, without flanges and not inside a reel
- Tapes submitted on a hub only need flanges to be mounted on the hub before they can be recorded: a delicate and time consuming job.
- It takes more time (and costs more) to process tapes on a hub only.
