Non-Advancing Tracks

Non-Advancing Tracks: record "bands" that prevent the needle from continuing to the next track

  • When the needle gets to a non-advancing "band", playback stops. An operator must manually move the needle to the next track.
  • Non-Advancing Tracks complicate the recording process considerably. They require significantly more operator labor and more recording time.

It is not possible to determine by looking at a record if the bands are normal (advancing) or non-advancing. Therefore it is not necessary to add this option to the order. If we encounter Non-Advancing Tracks on the record(s), we will log the occurence(s) and charge appropriately.
