Details

  • A Commercial Release 78 rpm is your "average" 78 rpm record (from the 30's-50's), that was purchased already recorded. The record was pressed in thousands of copies and has a colorful label, printed with the name of the artist and song/album. Many of these records come in "albums" (thus the name we still use today: "album"). This type of record is made of shellac (a material that is heavy and breakable).
  • Please also read the information for Home Made Records, Edisons, "Acoustics", "Unusual record formats" and LP (33 1/3) records and be sure your record is not one of the above formats, it is indeed a Commercially produced 78rpm. Upon receipt and inspection, we will re-classify records submitted under the wrong category.

NOTE:
  • A CD holds maximum 80 minutes.  If all 78rpm records you submit will fit on one CD, we will make one CD.  Otherwise, we will make a set of two CDs.  In that case, for Extra CD Copies you will need two Extra CD Copies per set.
  • We ask our customers to use common sense in what to expect for final quality from 78rpm Commercial Records: if a record is in horrible condition, the CD will NOT sound perfect.  It will sound better than the original record, but better than "horrible" is "very bad"!  It is better to have modest expectation that will be exceeded, than to have unrealistic expectations and be disappointed.  Restoring a bunch of 50-60-70 year-old records that sat in the attic for the last 40 years is a gamble: the end result may be great, horrible, or somewhere in the middle.  We, as professionals, will tilt the odds in favor of "quality".  However, we do not participate in the gamble.
  • XQ (Extreme Quality) Service - recommended for getting the most out of your original material.
  • This service opens access to our premium equipment.
  • Each recording receives more individual Sound Engineer time.
