CVC Productions helped me to complete a 50 year journey. I found a Laserdisc on eBay that contained a sports highlight film that I last saw in 1970 and loved. Over the years I had bought several rare LPs, because they were not available on CD and were unlikely to reissued any time soon. Unlike some vinyl aficionados, I don't particularly enjoy handling vinyl records. They're just too fragile compared to my sturdier CDs!
As the years went by, I had accumulated an increasingly unwieldy LP collection that I had intended to transfer to digital all by myself. However, the few direct LP transfers that I had attempted yielded rather unsatisfactory results. If you happen to have a conversion system that works for you, then more power to you. Alas, it eventually became a project too large for me to undertake on my own, and my LPs just languished in a box in a neglected corner of my flat. On top of everything, I was busy at work and had very little spare time for such a relatively trivial pursuit. So I decided to bite the financial bullet and go with LP2CD. After all, time is money.
I certainly got what I paid for! Definitely recommended! How wonderful it was to finally get to listen to these rare, elusive recordings! Interestingly, when a few of these recordings were finally commercially released in 'remastered' editions, they often sounded muffled and compressed when compared to the brighter sounding transfers from vinyl by Dr Coban and his team. Indeed, some of those reissues had also been remastered from vinyl sources and not from the original master tapes.
These are very busy people. One could not reasonably expect them to answer each phone call. Nonetheless, they are very good at answering their email. Once, when recommending LP2CD to a friend, she had wanted to deliver her fragile home recordings personally, since she was planning to travel through Florida around that time. However, this is against their policy, mostly due to the sheer volume of their work.
For those still in the process of procuring their rare LPs, LP2CD will even permit you to have the ebay seller (or other vendor) ship directly to them. Thereby saving a lot of time and trouble. Indeed, once I had come across on ebay a last minute addition to my otherwise well-mapped-out order with LP2CD. Alas, the ebay seller would only ship it to me via painfully slow media rate which resulted in a lost opportunity for me. This would not have happened if I had had the ebay seller ship directly to LP2CD.
I happen to live in more than one location. Sometimes I will need LP2CD to ship my LPs to one address and send the CD transfers to another. With a little extra for the shipping, LP2CD has always been willing to oblige.
Finally, if you are interested in preserving your LPs for the long term, I recommend that you include new inner sleeves along with the old LPs that you are sending to LP2CD for transfer. LP2CD professionally clean your records beforehand. However, unless you provide them with fresh inner sleeves, they will put your newly cleaned LPs right back into the dusty old sleeves. This is the equivalent of taking a shower and then putting on dirty clothes out of the laundry basket. The unique opportunity for preserving your old vinyl would be lost. LP2CD is not a warehouse and does not keep new inner sleeves in stock, so it is up to the customers to provide their own.
